Sembawang and Canberra
武吉坎贝拉游泳课程
Bukit Canberra is the integrated sports and community hub in Sembawang, and its swimming facilities are a convenient base for families in the newer Canberra estates and the older Sembawang neighbourhoods.
Tell us who is learning, what they can already do in the water and which days suit you. We will check whether a coach and timeslot at Bukit Canberra fit your plans.
Who Learns at Bukit Canberra
Bukit Canberra sits in Sembawang, in Singapore’s far north, and draws swimmers from Canberra, Sembawang, Admiralty and parts of Yishun. Much of the housing nearby is relatively new, so many households here are young families looking for a first set of lessons close to home rather than a long trip to a bigger town centre.
These are the usual starting points:
- Pre-schoolers taking their first lessons. 我们的 幼儿游泳课程 are for children aged 2 to 4 and run for 30 minutes, which suits short attention spans and avoids a cold, tired child at the end.
- Primary-school children building strokes. Kids lessons for ages 5 to 11 run for 45 minutes. If your child is working through the SwimSafer stages at school, tell us which stage so the coach can plan around it. Our SwimSafer page explains how we approach this.
- Parents who never learnt. It is common for a parent to start adult lessons once their children are in the water. Adult lessons are for learners aged 12 and above.
Private or Shared Lessons?
Every package on our 收费页面 is priced for four lessons, with one-to-one, one-to-two and small-group options. Siblings of a similar level can share a coach, which lowers the per-person cost. A nervous beginner, or an adult who would rather not learn in front of others, usually does better with 私人游泳课程 for the first few sessions. You can always move to a shared format later.
Getting There and On the Day
Bukit Canberra is in the Canberra and Sembawang area on the North-South Line side of the island. Many families walk or cycle from nearby blocks; others come by bus or car. If you plan to drive, check the current parking arrangements before your first lesson, because weekend mornings are a busy time at community hubs.
A few practical points for the first visit:
- Arrive 10 to 15 minutes early so your child can change, use the toilet and settle before the lesson starts.
- Bring a swimsuit, goggles, a swim cap if required by the pool, a towel, a water bottle and a change of clothes. Young children often appreciate a hooded towel afterwards.
- Pack sunscreen if the lesson is in an outdoor pool area, and expect lessons to pause during lightning warnings.
- Pool admission is paid to the facility and is not part of our lesson package unless we confirm otherwise.
Operating hours, cleaning closures and admission rules are set by the operator. Please check the official ActiveSG swimming-pool directory before you travel; official information always takes precedence over this page.
Bukit Canberra: Common Questions
My child has never been in a pool. Where do we start?
With a short, calm first lesson focused on getting comfortable: entering the water safely, blowing bubbles and floating with support. For children aged 2 to 4, the 30-minute toddler format is usually the best starting point.
Can my two children share a coach?
Often, yes, if they are close in age and ability. If one child is much more confident than the other, separate lessons tend to work better for both.
Is pool entry included in the lesson fee?
Do not assume it is. Lesson packages cover coaching; facility admission is normally paid separately. We will confirm this when we confirm your booking.
What happens if it rains or there is lightning?
The lifeguards’ and facility’s instructions apply. Ask us about the weather and make-up arrangements for your package before you pay.
Can I ask for a female coach?
Yes. You can request one when you enquire. Whether we can match it depends on coach availability for this location and your preferred times.
Swimming lessons build skills and confidence, but they do not make anyone drown-proof. Children should always be supervised by a responsible adult around water.
