Condo pool or public pool?
Share the learner’s age, ability and goals, plus whether you have access to a condo pool.
Serangoon mixes HDB estates around the town centre with landed homes and condominiums in Serangoon Gardens and along the Circle Line. That means some learners here are best served at a public pool and others at their own condo pool. We help you work out which.

Swimming Lessons in Serangoon: Condo Pool or Public Pool
Serangoon is a town of two halves. Around the town centre you find HDB estates, while Serangoon Gardens and the stretches along the Circle Line are full of landed homes and condominiums. That is why the first question we ask here is not just “how old is the learner?” but “where would you actually like to swim?”
Option 1: Your Own Condo Pool
If your condominium allows external coaches, lessons at your own pool can cut the journey to a lift ride. Before you book, check with the management office about outside instructors, booking rules and guest registration for the coach. Our condo swimming lessons page lists what to ask. Condo lessons also suit two siblings or neighbours of a similar level sharing a coach.
Option 2: Serangoon Swimming Complex or Another Public Pool
ActiveSG lists Serangoon Swimming Complex at 35 Yio Chu Kang Road, Singapore 545552. It opens 8am to 9.30pm and is closed all day on Thursdays, except when a Thursday is a public holiday. Check the official page for same-day closures (ActiveSG: Serangoon Swimming Complex). ActiveSG’s directory also covers nearby complexes such as Hougang (95 Hougang Avenue 4) and Bishan (1 Bishan Street 14) through its swimming pools directory.
For entry fees and directions, see the Serangoon Swimming Complex visitor guide. Pool entry is paid separately from lesson fees.
Choosing a Programme
- Toddler lessons, ages 2 to 4, 30 minutes
- Kids lessons, ages 5 to 11, 45 minutes
- Adult lessons, age 12 and above, 45 minutes
- Ladies’ lessons, with the option to request a female coach

All packages are four lessons: one-to-one, one-to-two or small group. See the fees page. Children on SwimSafer can tell their coach their stage; see the SwimSafer page.
What to Expect on the First Lesson
At a condo, arrive a few minutes early so the coach is registered and the pool is free of other bookings. At a public pool, allow 10 to 15 minutes for admission and changing. The coach will start by finding out how comfortable the learner is in the water, then work on entries, breathing and floating. Bring a swimsuit, goggles, swim cap if required, towel, water and a change of clothes. Parents stay responsible for children before and after class.
Serangoon FAQs
Does my condo have to approve the coach?
Many condos require it. Ask the management office first and tell us what they need.
Is a condo lesson priced differently?
Package structure is the same; confirm the final arrangement with us before paying.
Can two neighbours’ children share?
Yes, if they are similar in age and ability. A shared lesson lowers the cost per person.
What if the condo pool is booked for an event?
Tell us as soon as you know. We will look at moving the session.
Can lessons run at Serangoon Swimming Complex on Thursdays?
No. The complex is closed on Thursdays unless it is a public holiday, so choose another day.
