Swimming Lessons at Queenstown

A well-connected west-side pool that works for local families and for adults heading home along the East-West Line.

Queenstown Swimming Complex on Stirling Road is the local public pool for Queenstown, Commonwealth, Dawson, Mei Ling and Tanglin Halt. We arrange private and small-group lessons here for toddlers, children and adults when a suitable coach and slot are available.

A neighbourhood pool in Singapore’s first satellite town

Queenstown mixes long-established estates with newer flats around Dawson, so lessons here need to suit every generation: toddlers getting comfortable in water, school-age children building strokes, and adults who never had the chance to learn as children. Our lessons are organised around the learner, not a single syllabus.

Lessons for each stage

  • Ages 2–4: 30-minute toddler swimming lessons built around play, supported floating and safe entry and exit.
  • Ages 5–11: 45-minute kids swimming lessons progressing from independent floating to freestyle and breaststroke, with water-safety skills relevant to SwimSafer.
  • Ages 12 and above: 45-minute adult swimming lessons, from overcoming fear of water to smoother, less tiring strokes. Older learners are welcome; tell us about any joint, heart or mobility concerns so the coach can plan sensibly.
  • Learners who may need extra support: see special-needs swimming lessons and talk to us first about suitability.

Prices for every programme and group size are on our fees and rates page. All packages are four lessons; group prices are per person.

Getting to Stirling Road

The complex is within walking distance of Queenstown MRT on the East-West Line, which makes it straightforward for learners coming from Commonwealth, Redhill or further along the line. Check the walking route the first time, and confirm parking arrangements in advance if you plan to drive.

Practical notes for the day

  • Check the ActiveSG swimming-pool directory for current hours and closures before travelling.
  • Arrive ten minutes early to pay admission and change. Pool entry is separate from coaching fees unless we confirm otherwise.
  • Bring swimwear, goggles, towel, sunscreen and water; a swim nappy for toddlers.
  • Lessons pause for lightning alerts and follow lifeguard instructions.

Safety and supervision

A coach-led lesson does not replace a parent or guardian’s supervision outside the class, and no course makes anyone drown-proof.

Queenstown lessons: your questions answered

My parent is in their sixties and wants to learn. Is that realistic?

Yes. Adults can learn at any age. We usually suggest one-to-one lessons so the pace suits the learner. Share any health considerations beforehand.

Is Queenstown or Delta better for us?

Both serve the central-west. We also arrange lessons at Delta in Bukit Merah. Tell us your block or MRT station and we will suggest the easier trip.

Can siblings share a lesson?

If they are of similar ability, yes. A pair or small group lowers the cost per person. Read more about group swimming lessons.

When is private coaching worth it?

When the learner is anxious, has a specific goal or needs a flexible schedule. See private swimming lessons.

What happens if a lesson is cancelled for weather?

Make-up and cancellation terms are agreed before payment, so ask about them when booking.
