Swimming Lessons at Woodlands

Coached swimming lessons at Woodlands Swimming Complex for learners from Woodlands, Marsiling and Admiralty.

Woodlands sits at Singapore’s northern edge, so a pool in the town itself saves families a long trip south for every lesson. We arrange private and small-group coaching here once a suitable coach, pool area and timeslot are confirmed.

Three common starting points

“My child is starting from scratch.”

For ages 2–4, toddler swimming lessons last 30 minutes and focus on comfort: splashing, bubbles, supported floats and holding the wall. For ages 5–11, 45-minute kids swimming lessons begin with breath control and floating, then move to kicking, gliding and the first strokes. Nervous children often settle faster one-to-one before joining a small group.

“My child can swim a bit but needs to get stronger.”

Here the coach focuses on technique and stamina: freestyle breathing, breaststroke timing and treading water. Parents whose children are working through the national SwimSafer programme can tell the coach so lessons cover the relevant water-safety skills.

“I’m an adult and I’ve never learnt.”

You are far from alone. Adult swimming lessons are 45 minutes, open to anyone aged 12 and above, and start at your pace, whether that means standing in the shallow end and practising breathing or going straight to stroke work. Women who prefer a female coach can see ladies swimming lessons.

All packages are four lessons. For kids, a package costs $280 for 1-to-1, $190 per person for two, and $140 per person for three or more; adult packages are $320, $200 and $160 per person. Full details are on our fees and rates page.

Getting to Woodlands Swimming Complex

Woodlands town is served by Woodlands, Admiralty and Marsiling stations on the North-South Line, plus several Thomson-East Coast Line stations around Woodlands North and South. Which is most convenient depends on where you are coming from, so check a journey planner before your first lesson. If you drive, confirm parking arrangements in advance.

Hours, maintenance days, closures and rules can change. Check the official ActiveSG facility page for Woodlands Swimming Complex before you travel; it takes precedence over this page.

Your lesson-day kit

  • Swimwear, goggles and a towel; a swim cap for long hair
  • Sunscreen and a refillable water bottle
  • A swim nappy for toddlers who are not toilet-trained
  • Dry clothes and a bag for wet kit
  • Admission arrangements, as pool entry is separate from coaching fees unless we confirm otherwise

Lessons stop for lightning alerts and follow lifeguard instructions. Swimming lessons do not make anyone drown-proof, and children need an adult’s supervision outside lesson time.

Woodlands lesson FAQs

Is Woodlands convenient if we live in Sembawang or Yishun?

It can be, but a pool nearer home may be easier to keep up weekly. Tell us your area and we will suggest the most practical option.

Can my two children share lessons?

If their ages and abilities are similar, yes, and a pair lowers the cost per person. Otherwise separate lessons work better. Read more about group swimming lessons.

Should I choose private coaching?

It suits anxious beginners, specific goals and tight schedules. See private swimming lessons.

We have a pool in our condominium. Can lessons happen there?

If management permits external coaches, yes. See condo swimming lessons.

What happens if a lesson is cancelled for weather?

Cancellation and make-up terms are agreed before payment, so ask when booking.
