Swimming Lessons at Yishun

Tell us the learner’s age, current ability and preferred days, and we will check what is available near you.

Yishun is a large, established town with a mix of long-time residents and young families in newer estates. We arrange lessons for both: children starting from zero, school-age swimmers improving their strokes, and adults who have put off learning for years.

Learning to Swim in Yishun

Yishun runs along the North-South Line, with Yishun and Khatib MRT stations serving most of the town, and bus links to Sembawang, Ang Mo Kio and beyond. The town’s main public pool is Yishun Swimming Complex, and some families also have access to a condominium pool. We will help you decide which is more practical for regular lessons, based on where you live and when you are free.

Because Yishun is spread out, travel time matters. A 45-minute lesson that takes another hour of travelling each way is hard to keep up every week, especially with young children. Tell us your nearest MRT station or estate when you enquire.

Which Lessons Fit Which Learner

Your child is 2 to 4 and has never had lessons. Start with toddler swimming lessons. They run for 30 minutes and focus on comfort, breath control and safe entries rather than strokes.

Your child is 5 to 11 and can or cannot yet swim. Kids lessons run for 45 minutes and progress from floating and kicking to freestyle, backstroke and breaststroke. If your child is working towards a SwimSafer award, our SwimSafer page explains how lessons can support that.

You are an adult or teenager (12+) who cannot swim, or swims badly. Adult lessons are paced for grown-up learners, including those who are anxious in deep water. Women who would prefer a female coach can look at ladies’ swimming lessons.

The learner needs extra support. Our special-needs swimming lessons start with a conversation about communication, sensory needs and safety.

Each package is four lessons. Compare one-to-one, one-to-two and small-group prices on our fees page. If you want a coach’s full attention, see private swimming lessons.

Before Your First Lesson

  • Check the pool first. Opening hours, cleaning closures and admission rules are set by the operator. Use the official ActiveSG facility information for current details.
  • Arrive early. Ten to fifteen minutes gives time to pay admission, change and meet the coach on the pool deck.
  • Bring: swimsuit, goggles, swim cap if required, towel, water bottle and a change of clothes. Sunscreen is worth packing for outdoor pools.
  • Plan for weather. Outdoor lessons pause during lightning warnings. Ask us about make-up arrangements before paying.

Supervision

The coach looks after the learner during the lesson. Before and after, a parent or guardian needs to be present for children. Please mention any medical conditions before the first session.

Yishun Lesson FAQs

Do you only teach at Yishun Swimming Complex?

No. We may suggest another public pool or your condominium pool if it suits your routine better. The exact venue is confirmed before you pay.

I live in Khatib. Is Yishun still practical?

Usually, yes. Khatib is one stop from Yishun on the North-South Line, so tell us your estate and we will suggest the most convenient option.

Can I book lessons for my child and myself?

Yes, but usually as separate bookings, since adult and child lessons differ in length and content. Back-to-back slots can save a second trip.

Are pool entry fees included?

Normally not. Facility admission is usually paid separately; we will confirm this for your booking.

My child is scared of the water. Should we choose private lessons?

Often that helps for the first few sessions, because the coach can go at the child’s pace without distractions. Many children move to a shared format once they are comfortable.
