Parent-and-Baby Water Familiarisation
Baby Swimming Lessons Singapore
Baby swimming sessions introduce infants to the pool through closely supervised, age-appropriate activities with a parent or caregiver in the water.
The aim is positive water familiarity and shared participation—not independent swimming, breath-holding training, or making a baby safe without adult supervision. Suitability depends on the baby’s health, development, comfort, pool conditions, and professional advice where needed.

When Can a Baby Start?
There is no single starting age that is appropriate for every baby. Before booking, consider your baby’s health, development, vaccinations, temperature regulation, skin condition, feeding needs, and any advice from a healthcare professional. Check the pool’s age, hygiene, swim-nappy, and adult-participation rules.
We will ask about the baby’s age, previous water exposure, health considerations, preferred pool, and schedule before checking whether an appropriate coach and venue are available.
Water Familiarity
Gentle entry, splashing, supported movement, songs, and play led by the baby’s responses.
Adult Participation
A responsible parent or caregiver supports the baby in the water and follows the coach’s directions.
Individual Readiness
Activities should stop or change if the baby is cold, tired, distressed, unwell, or uncomfortable.
What May Happen in a Session
Depending on readiness, a session may use supported floating, reaching, kicking, splashing, songs, toys permitted by the venue, and gentle movement through the water. Submersion should never be treated as compulsory or justified by a reflex alone.
Babies and young children must remain under close, active adult supervision around water. Participation in lessons does not make a baby drown-proof.
What to Bring
- A swim nappy if required by the pool
- Suitable swimwear for the baby and participating adult
- Towels and dry clothes
- Drinking water and normal feeding supplies for after the session
- Any agreed item needed for the baby’s comfort or care
Follow your baby’s normal feeding and healthcare guidance. Do not rely on a universal feeding interval or pool-temperature claim; ask the venue and your healthcare professional when those factors are relevant.

- 1-to-1: $280
- 1-to-2: $190 per person

Frequently Asked Questions
Does a parent enter the water?
Yes. Baby sessions require a responsible parent or caregiver to participate in the water unless a different arrangement is explicitly assessed and confirmed.
Is submersion required?
No. It should not be forced or treated as a requirement. Activities must reflect the baby’s responses and the coach’s safe, appropriate judgement.
What if my baby cries or becomes cold?
Pause or end the activity and attend to the baby’s needs. Comfort and wellbeing take priority over completing an exercise.
How quickly will my baby become comfortable?
There is no reliable fixed timeline. Responses vary between babies and from one session to another.
When does a child move to toddler lessons?
The toddler programme is listed for ages 2 to 4. Confirm readiness and the adult-in-water arrangement before changing programmes.
