Singapore SwimSafer Stage 1

SwimSafer Stage 1 is the programme’s Introduction to Water Skills stage. It focuses on confidence, independence, safe entry and exit, movement, and personal water-safety foundations.

Stage 1 Skill Areas

Official instruction can include entries and exits, sculling and body orientation, underwater skills, movement, survival skills, rescue skills, and knowledge appropriate to the stage.

Who Stage 1 Is For

The official programme recommends a minimum entry age of six, while noting that providers may vary. Readiness should be assessed individually rather than assumed from age alone.

Preparing for Stage 1

Share the learner’s water confidence, swimming experience, school or private route, preferred pool, and any assessment information. We will check whether an appropriately qualified coach is available.

Assessment and Certification

Coaching does not itself award a certificate. Current registration, theory, practical assessment, validation, and certificate processes must be completed through official channels.

Verify Current Requirements
